One of the obvious perks about the Olympic Peninsula is the rain shadow where storms heading inland from the Pacific Ocean leave most of their moisture on or around the mountains, leaving a dry spot in North Puget Sound. This means towns like Port Ludlow receive much less rainfall than our Western Washington neighbors creating more time for outdoor activities.

Port Ludlow boasts more than 26 miles of well-maintained hiking trails to explore. Originally created as service roads during the sawmill era, today the trails are traversed by residents and guests alike. The adventurous trails can lead you through the woods, to the beach or anywhere in between–the hardest part will be deciding which path to take.

Port Ludlow is conveniently located a short 10 minutes from the agricultural region of Chimacum. Visit Red Dog Farm which provides a self-service, honor system farm stand open daily with fresh, in-season produce or visit Egg and I Pork for farm fresh eggs.. Don’t feel like cooking? Swing by Finnriver to enjoy delicious award-winning ciders and wood-fired pizza. With plenty of farmers markets in Chimacum, Port Townsend and Port Gamble you’ll have many options!
